Board Goal 1 -  Strengthen Board Governance, Professional Capacity, and Team Effectiveness

The Board will enhance its overall governance effectiveness by strengthening team cohesion, improving policy alignment, using data more effectively, and ensuring all members participate in ongoing training and structured team-building.

Success indicators may include:

  • Annual retreat
  • At least one NJSBA training per member
  • Two full-board training sessions
  • Completion of priority policy updates

 

Board Goal 2 - Improve Communication, Transparency, and Community Engagement


The Board will seek to build trust and strengthen stakeholder relationships by increasing transparency, expanding communication channels, and creating more meaningful opportunities for two-way engagement with families and the community.

Success indicators may include:

  • Monthly “Board Highlights” report
  • Increased use of accessible communication platforms (recorded meetings)
  • Additional engagement sessions (forums, town halls, listening sessions)
  • Design and implement an updated board bio section on the website

 

Board Goal 3 - Strengthen the Board’s Committee Structure and Operational Efficiency


The Board will improve operational effectiveness by strengthening committee structures, ensuring regular meetings, and promoting consistent processes that support informed governance and alignment with district goals.

Success indicators may include:

  • All committees meeting at least 2 times per year
  • Clear, documented committee reports
  • Review and adjust (as needed) current committee structure
