October News

October has been a very productive month for the children.  They are recognizing more sight words and decoding on a more consistent basis using the strategies learned in our Fundations program.  They're noting the differences between the vowel sounds, digraphs, glued sounds, and bonus letters.  The children are working diligently on their personal narratives to try to make them the best they can be.  New concepts are being introduced daily in our Everyday Math series.  The children have been learning how to tell time to the nearest minute and find elapsed time (which is a difficult concept).  They also have been learning how to represent and interpret data on scaled bar graphs.  In addition to all of this, the children have been learning multiplication strategies and solving division stories!  During Science, the children are continuing their unit on the solar system.  In Social Studies, the children have been talking about the upcoming election.
